Nexus PMG was engaged to provide project management and FEL engineering services for the production of Advanced Biofuels like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) made from renewable waste resources to deliver the performance of jet fuel with a fraction of the carbon emissions.
In support of a multi-billion dollar SAF facility in the Southern U.S., the Nexus PMG team offered its deep engineering expertise alongside its network for the project to convert biomass, including wood residue, into high-quality aviation fuel and diesel. The torrefaction of biomass, gasification, treatment and purification of the produced synthetic gas and subsequent conversion were achieved through a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
Nexus PMG delivered an FEL-2 (pre-FEED) for the project, which will implement two large European licensor technologies, and another licensor for a process to optimize the quality of woody biomass prior to gasification.
Leveraging its experience and deep relationships with key suppliers in this sector (i.e. for critical equipment such as the biomass boiler and material handling scopes), Nexus PMG will secure estimates for the project.
Following the FEL-2 works, Nexus is expected to continue to support the company in an Owner’s Engineer role for the next phase of work.
