Optimizing Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR) Recycling Operations and Performance

Nexus PMG was engaged to provide technical expertise in Advanced Recycling to process Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR), a waste product that typically ends up deposited in landfills.

Nexus PMG was selected as a partner to ensure that the facility could properly process ASR through a proprietary combination of mechanical screening and sorting equipment to recover metals (copper, aluminum, and ferritic steel) for recycling.

Though Nexus PMG was initially engaged to perform Construction Monitoring services to provide status reporting and schedule confidence to project creditors, the scope of work increased to include Operations and Field Services.

As part of its Construction Monitoring services, Nexus PMG performed weekly site assessment of construction progress and forecasting of completion dates. Throughout the project, the team conducted regular interviews with the construction lead and other personnel to identify – and circumvent – potential barriers to completion and continue to track toward the project completion date.

As the project progressed, Nexus PMG was asked to provide Operations and Field Services, which included advising the client on the operations program’s effectiveness, assessing existing equipment and providing recommendations for improvements on alternate equipment in the facility.
