Employee Spotlight – Jake Peer

Jake Peer came on board in October of 2018 as a Senior Project Engineer but has recently been promoted to Manager of Projects. After graduating from Clemson University in 2011, he spent seven years with Jacobs Engineering where he supported industrial clients in engineering and design management roles.

Specializing in mechanical and process aspects, Jake is responsible for innovation and growth within our project development, engineering execution, and due diligence services. We are fortunate to have his unique insight on our team.

Before working at Nexus PMG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Planting, sorting, and delivering watermelons to all the fruit stands in the upstate.

What is your favorite part about your role at Nexus PMG?

You never know what tomorrow is going to bring. There is always a new challenge/opportunity and the job is never boring. I get to help bring exciting new technologies and ideas to life that are going to bring about positive change for the planet. I also get to be directly involved in the development of the next generation of engineers that will continue our mission and grow our company.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

We have 3 dogs: Buck, Rollo, and Lexie. We also have a miniature pig named Lily.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

A house with acreage and at least a 10-car garage.

What hopes do you have for our industry?

I hope the members of our industry continue to innovate and do away with the “that’s how it has always been done” mentality.

Where is the best place you have traveled to and why?

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The scenery was beautiful, and it provided a laidback, relaxing atmosphere. I also got to enjoy it with my wife as we went there for our honeymoon. 

What advice to you have for prospective Nexus PMG candidates? 

Buckle-up! These are exciting times here at Nexus, and the possibilities are endless for those who are open to meeting new opportunities head-on.
