Tell us about yourself and your background.

I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and was introduced to the legal field when I nannied for the owner of a court reporting firm through high school in order to pay my tuition. She later introduced me to an attorney whom I supported for nearly a decade as a solo practitioner. My interest in project management began during my work on the merger of two software companies. I am inspired by the freedom of innovation in business. Nexus PMG tackles real-world problems with sustainable solutions and I’m excited to be a part of the team!

What sparked your interest in Nexus PMG?

It was Ben Hubbard’s statement, “Every project we develop must show social and environmental returns as well as financial.” That struck me and prompted me to look further into Nexus PMG. My perspective is that for-profit businesses focus on financial gain over their environmental impact. The idea of accomplishing both goals, sustainably, was instantly intriguing.

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

When you treat people fairly, even in conflict, you create opportunities for personal and professional growth and the ripple effect always comes back to you at some point in the future.

People would be surprised if they knew:

I was a Guardian ad Litem for foster kids for 7 years in Florida.

What does leadership mean to you?

A great leader recognizes their team’s diverse, unique potential and encourages growth and professional development.

Do you have a favorite tradition? If so, what is it?

At Christmas, I make sugar plums. They are elaborate cookies that everyone has heard of but no one has tried (despite the popular poem). I love watching the mad scramble as I pull each batch out of the oven. Pro tip: quadruple the recipe. They’re that good. 😊

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I love all things nature, ballroom and swing dancing, and martial arts. We hike whenever possible, enjoy local festivals, community events, and anything that involves animals.

If you could implement one sustainable swap in the world right now, what would it be?

Prior to joining Nexus, I’d pick inexpensive water desalination. Now I’d focus on an efficient public transportation system in the US for a greater environmentally sustainable yield.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“People only have so much time on this earth. Don’t waste it.”
