Employee Spotlight – Nick Myers

Nick Myers joined Nexus PMG in April as a Project Developer. After graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2014 with degrees in finance and marketing, Nick moved to Charleston, SC to begin working for the large real estate investment company, Colliers International. Next, Nick joined PulteGroup as a Project Manager, where he worked for the next four years. Learning how to manage projects is where Nick’s fascination and desire to develop and complete more impactful projects began. During his time with Pulte, Nick familiarized himself with the project management process and learned that the foundation and fundamentals are much the same no matter the project scale. Working there gave him experience in many facets of project management, including design, sales, construction monitoring, and client services.

“Being newer to the industry allows me to bring a different perspective. It’s nice to have a company culture that encourages evolving and learning. Everyone’s opinion is important.”

One of the first things that engaged Nick’s interest in Nexus PMG was the origination story and the amount of perseverance it took to build the business from the ground up while emphasizing the impact on society. After many conversations with team members, he knew this was the perfect opportunity to join such a unique company and help develop a sustainable world.  Since joining Nexus PMG, Nick has enjoyed seeing firsthand how to take different waste streams and turn them into a resource. Working as a Project Developer allows Nick to interact with people in all areas of the company. He appreciates how flexible and adaptable the work environment is, which gives him more exposure, experience, and overall makes him a more well-rounded professional. He says, “Being newer to the industry allows me to bring a different perspective. It’s nice to have a company culture that encourages evolving and learning. Everyone’s opinion is important.” Nick is also appreciative of how much growth is possible when surrounded by professionals with long-term experience. He urges, “Don’t let the fear of not knowing something or being uncomfortable in a new industry scare you away. Being a sponge and challenging yourself to learn every day is the best part.”

Since Nick has been a member of the Nexus PMG team, he has hit the ground running. He’s worked towards providing a way to standardize company estimates for services on an individual project basis. Nick has also worked with Colton Cunningham, a Project Control Specialist, to develop a resource planning document. This tool allows him to track future opportunities entering the sales funnel and the active projects already in motion. By updating these weekly, he can connect with different managers and make a higher-level assessment of where our business stands.

In his spare time, Nick enjoys golfing, football, and any activity on the water. Since moving back to the upstate, he is also excited about picking up a new hobby in mountain biking. Nick holds an appreciation for the great outdoors and emphasizes how good it feels to join a growing company that works on projects focused on making the world a better place.

Join Nexus PMG in our mission to build a better world with waste-to-value projects.
