Employee Spotlight – Kevin Sayles

Kevin Sayles is a Project Engineer in the Greenville, SC office. Mr. Sayles provides process engineering services for a variety of clients. After completing his degree in Biosystems Engineering through Clemson University, he began working for a small chemical engineering firm in Boston, PA. Following two years up North, he moved back to South Carolina where he accepted a position with a large engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm. While there he was involved in engineering projects ranging from front end engineering design (FEED) to detail design. He also participated in projects on-site where he provided process engineering support. This opportunity led him into the lead process engineering role. When approached with the opportunity to join the team here at Nexus PMG, he jumped at the opportunity to once again work for a closely connected firm.

Working with Nexus PMG has allowed Kevin to undertake multiple roles within a single project. He acknowledges that being given the freedom to be involved in the complete life cycle of an industrial project has not only maximized his involvement, but also provided more value to the client.  In a recent project, he was able to coordinate with the operations team of an existing facility and provide low-cost feedstock that works to convert waste into a valued product. He stated, “I get enjoyment out of providing an out-of-the-box solution to a problem. This is especially rewarding when we get a chance to help reduce carbon emissions and produce an eco-friendly technology.”

Kevin says that his involvement in multiple sports growing up gave him a good sense of teamwork and facilitated his ability to work with different personalities. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys outdoor activities such as fly fishing for trout in the Appalachian Mountains. This gives him time to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, while reminding him of his appreciation of a planet that is #BiggerThanUs.

Like everyone at Nexus PMG, Kevin believes he has the technical ability to execute multiple projects varying in size while providing exceptional value to clients. He appreciates the team’s willingness to adapt to each client’s needs by providing innovative, modern solutions to problems of the past. Kevin is excited to watch the company grow as he continues to add value to projects in his role as Project Engineer.
